Troops Kill 89 Bandits, Recover Arms Ammunition, as 5 Kidnap Victims Rescue in Zamfara State.-DHQ

The Armed Forces of Nigeria says it's Troops of Operation Hadarin Daji, has killed 89 bandits, recovered arms ammunition and also rescued five kidnapped victims in Gidan Jaja in Zurmi Local Government of Zamfara state.   In a statement signed by the Coordinator, Defence Media Operations, DHQ Maj. GEN. John Enenche, on Saturday in Abuja, the Armed Forces said, troops of Sector 9 Operation HADARIN DAJI,  supported by Troops of 35 Battalion and Quick Response Group of 17 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Two helicopter gun ships of the Nigerian Air Force, personnel of Nigeria Police Force and elements of Nigerian Army, neutralised the bandits, recovering arms and ammunition. The DMOs also disclosed that During the operation, 89 bandits were neutralized and unconfirmed number escaped with gunshot wounds.  Gen. The Armed  Forces of Nigerian says the combined naval operation under the auspices of ECOWAS Maritime Zone E comprising Nigeria, Benin Republic, Togo and the Gendarmerie of Republic of Niger involving Nigerian Navy Special Boat Service (NN SBS) operatives and Benin Navy has led to the rescue of 11 crew men onboard a Portuguese flagged container ship, MV TOMMI RITSCHER in Benin Territorial Waters.  The vessel was reportedly attacked by unknown number of gunmen at Zone 3 anchorage in Cotonou waters at about 2300 on 18 Apr 20. In a statement signed by the Coordinator, Defence Media Operations, DMOs, Maj. Gen. John Enenche on Thursday in Abuja, said at the time of the attack, there were 19 crew members comprising Ukrainian, Bulgarian and Filipinos. Capt. Badou Commends Nigerian Navy for rescuing 11 Crew Members Attacked by Pirates in Benin Rep.

By Aviashima Toom  The Chief of Naval Staff Benin Navy, Captain Albert Ezin Badou has commended the personnel of Nigerian Navy Ship for their show of gallantry and high level of professionalism during the rescued of 11 crew members onboard a Portuguese flagged container ship, MV TOMMI RITSCHER. The merchant ship which had 19 crew members consisting of Ukrainian, Bulgarian and Filipinos nationals was attacked by pirates in Benin territorial waters on 18 April 2020.  The Coordinator, Defence Media Operations, DHQ, Maj.Gen. John Enenche, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday in Abuja, said the Benin Navy requested for assistance from the Nigerian Navy (NN) on 19 April 2020, in line with the MoU of the ECOWAS Maritime Zone ‘E’.   He said the Nigerian Navy and Benin Navy jointly rescued the 11 crew members on 20 April 2020. The Armed Forces of Nigeria says its troops of Operation Whirl Stroke  sector 2 has destroyed armed militia camp while caches of arms ammunition were also recovered at Anku Mbagen in Atera-Jande, Torov council word of Ukum Local Government Area in Benue state. The Armed Forces of Nigeria, says its troops through the Air Task Force of Operation LAFIYA DOLE, has destroyed compounds housing Boko Haram Terrorists’  leaders at Bulawa on the fringes of the Sambisa Forest in Borno State.
