Education Minister inaugurates new governing councils for 13 Nigerian universities

By Aviashima Toom, Abuja. The Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, on Monday inaugurated the Governing Councils of 13?  ,! federal universities in the country. The councils are to serve for a period of four years. According to the minister, the governing councils are charged with the responsibilities of approving the financial guidelines of the universities; determining the terms and conditions of appointment of the vice chancellors and principal officers of the universities as well as annually reviewing the universities’ budget to monitor their performance and assess the overall impact of their implementation, among others. The military says it's Air Component of Operation HADARIN DAJITe attacked another armed bandits’ camp in the Southwestern part of Kwiambana Forest, neutralizing scores of their fighters in Zamfara State, In a statement signed by the Coordinator, Defence Media Operations, DHQ, Maj. Gen John Enenche, on sunday in Abuja. The Armed Forces of Nigeria says, it's troops of Operation HADARIN DAJI have neutralised scores of arms bandits, while rustled castle were also rescued in Sokoto and Zamfara state. In a statement signed by the Coordinator, DHQ, Maj. Gen John Enenche in Abuja said on the 11 July 2020, following  credible intelligence that armed bandits have rustled unconfirmed number of cows around Daki Takwas and Tashar Kuturu in Anka and Talata Mafara LGAs of Zamfara State.  He said  the troops tactically deployed to the scene. Contact was made with the armed bandits. The determined troops overwhelmed the recalcitrant bandits with superior fire.  According to him, during the encounter, scores were neutralised while others escaped with gun shots wounds. By Aviashima Toom, Abuja   Nigerian Air Force announces date, guidelines for 2020 recruitment The Nigerian Air Force, NAF, has announced a date for its 2020 Trades/Nn-Trades Men and Women recruitment exercise. NAF said that the recruitment exercise would commence from July 24 to August 21. Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola, NAF’s Director of Public Relations and Information, made this known in a statement in Abuja on Friday. Daramola also reiterated that its recruitment process is “Free of Charge” and is being executed in an equitable and transparent manner. According to him, information reaching the NAF indicated that some unscrupulous individuals had established fraudulent Facebook and WhatsApp groups. The Armed Forces of Nigeria has disclosed that, its Air Component of Operation HADARIN DAJI have neutralized 8 key armed bandits leaders and several of their fighters at Kagara forest in Zamfara state. Troops Rescue 3 Kidnap Victims, as Bandits Escape With Gun Shot Wounds - DHQ

By Aviashima Toom, Abuja The Defence Headquarters says, its troops of Operation THUNDER STRIKE, under the subsidiary Operation ACCORD has rescued 3 kidnapped victims, while the kidnappers escaped with gun shot wounds in Chikun LGA of Kaduna State. This was contained in a statement signed by it's Coordinator, Defence Media Operations, Maj. Gen. John Enenche on Friday in Abuja. The Armed Forces said, it was   Sequel to a credible intelligence on the kidnap of some people by armed bandits from their farm in Gwazunu village, where the troops promptly deployed  to the scene and engaged the bandits with effective firepower.  According to Enenche, the bandits escaped in disarray with gun shot wounds thereby abandoning the kidnapped victims. All the 3 victims were successfully rescued unhurt and have been reunited with their families.
