Nigerian Military Rescues 37 Kidnap Victims, Neutralises 22 Terrorists in One Week
By Aviashima Toom, Abuja — The Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) says its troops rescued at least 37 abducted persons, neutralised 22 terrorists and arrested several suspected terrorists, kidnappers and arms traffickers across the country between August 20 and 27, 2026. The military also dismantled illegal oil refining operations, intercepted stolen crude oil and illegally refined petroleum products, and recovered several weapons and other items during sustained operations across the country.
