MILITARY OPETATION AYEM A  APKATUMA, AN EXERCISE IN FUTILITY---NBA CHAIRMAN.

The Chairman Nigeria Bar Association, Bar. E Z Agbakor has expressed disappointment over the aclaimed Operation Ayem a Kpatuma in benue saying it was not a rescue mission but served to give constructive notice to the rampaging fulani herdsmen.

Agbakor stated this during a press confrence held at the Association secretariat said the exercise has warsened state of affairs in the state blood-drenched land, coming to the realisation that benue worries were nor unfiunded, but indeed, understated.

He said the Military cordon and search implemented as cordon and search of homes and settlements of benue indegenes; show of force that ought to have been used to dissuade the fulani herdsmen from their vicious attacks has rather been brandished at benue peoples  law abiding citizines which has dreaded the benue indegens.

The NBA chairman stated categorically that the exercise was faililure, saying the NBA position found support in the overflowing displaced persons into camps across Makurdi and its environs.

"Curioualy, the effect of Exercise Ayem A Kpatuma has not been felt since its launch. Aside from the subsequent attacks in Omusu, Edumoga in Okpokwu local government claiming over 72 lives and other areas.

"IDPs are still staying in their camps for fear of further attacks as the soldiers on the Exercise are more confortable staying in the town than the areas prone to Fulani herdsmen attack" he lamented.

while the NBA condemned the failure of the Exercise, they called on the Federal Republic of Nigeria to put in place, an actual Military Operation that would return peace and quiet to the farms and homes.
