ORTOM NOMINATRS FOR NATION NEWSPAPER
AWARD

The Nation Newspaper has nominated Benue State
Governor Samuel Ortom for award over his
performance in the area of agriculture and food
security.

In a letter of nomination to the Governor, Chairman,
Editorial Board of The Nation newspaper, Mr. Sam
Omatseye, congratulated Governor Ortom on his
commitment to selfless service.
The newspaper described as meritorious, the
strides made by the Governor which culminated in
the enactment of the Open Grazing Prohibition and
Ranches Establishment Law to create the enabling
environment for hitch-free agriculture activities in
the state.

"Your Excellency will receive the special award for
your services to food and agricultural development
in Nigeria. We congratulate you on your worthy
strides", it stated.
Governor Ortom will be among other deserving
award recipients during the Summit on Food and
Agriculture organized by The Nation newspaper to
be held at the Transcorp Hilton, Abuja on April 26,
this year.

President Mahammadu Buhari is expected to grace
the occasion as special guest of honour.

Meanwhile, Chief Press Secretary to the Benue
State Governor, Mr Terver Akase has described the
nomination of his principal for award by The Nation
newspaper as indication that Nigerians have
recognized the efforts made by Governor Samuel
Ortom in the area of security, agriculture and other
sectors of the economy.

Mr Akase said the award coming from a reputable
media organisation such as The Nation newspaper
is confirmation that the Governor is on the right
path of governance in the state.
