Benue Govt. Bans Picnics During Christmas, New Year Celebrations

Benue State government has banned the holding of picnics during the 2020 Christmas and 2021 New Year Celebrations in the state.

Governor Samuel Ortom who briefed journalists at the end of the State Security Council Meeting today urged Benue people to celebrate the festivities with their families, saying the ban was in line with COVID-19 protocol regarding public gatherings.

He disclosed that council reviewed the general security situation in the state and took steps on how best to protect lives and property especially during the festivities.

According to him, issues of herdsmen attacks, banditry, assasinations, cult activities, armed robbery and kidnapping were also reviewed based on briefings from security heads.

He urged people of the state to volunteer intelligence to security agents for prompt action.

Gov. Alia Celebrates Predecessor at 63

Hyacinth Alia, congratulated his predecessor and the immediate past governor of the State, Chief Samuel Ortom, on the Occasion of his 63rd birthday.  This was contain in a statement signed on Tuesday by Chief Press Secretary, CPS to Benue State Governor, Sir Tersoo Kula in makurdi. Governor Alia says, celebrating 63 years in good health is a privilege, calling on Chief Ortom to savour the moment, and also take deep retrospection as an elder statesman. By Our Reporter  The Palestinian Ambassador in Nigeria, Abu Shawesh has said about 630,000 students are deprived of their right to education due to the ongoing war between Israel and Palestine.
