Lobi Stars Beats Sunshine to maintain Clean home Win in Makurdi.

Lobi Stars on Sunday May 30, 2021 inside the main bowl of the Aper Stadium Makurdi overran spirited Sunshine Stars by 2-1 in an NPFL 2020/2021 Match Day 24 to record their  7th unbroken home win and extend the winless run of the Owena Whales to 17.

It only took the 18" 20 mitre missile from John Lazarus and a 26" quick flip jab by Ossy Martins to give Lobi Stars the come back and the hard earned three points.
In a statement signed by the Media Officers to Lobi Stars FC, Austin Tyowua, in Makurdi said, Sunshine Stars took the kick off with the spirit of a team that came with a mission of ending the 16 winless run, having tasted their last victory since Match Day 7 of the NPFL 2020/2021. 

Their efforts almost paid off in the 13" when Lobi Stars handover the ball to sunshine Stars Midway amidst pressure, 9 shirted Sadeeq Yusuf who took advantage of the error and was  headed in front of Lobi Stars goal unchallenged but his low shot to the far right was saved by the excellent goal keeping of Emmanuel Daniel.
3" later, Sunshine Stars got a free kick on the right side which was delivered by captain Sunday Abe and the resultant header by Uzochukwu Ugonna  put the visitors ahead. John Lazarus fired a missile from Mathias Samuel's well placed pass for the equalizer to cut short the Owena Whales' celebration just two minutes after Sunshine took the lead.

John Lazarus launched a drop in the deep of Sunshine Stars defense in the 21" and was lowered by  Ossy Martins header for Mathias Samuel in the same spot that gave Lobi Stars the equalizer but his volleyball sailed over the cross bar.


The persistent search for a lead goal by Lobi Stars paid off in the 26" as Ossy Martins sneaked from behind  a Sunshine Stars defender to steal a flip home Monday Akile's left sided cross to seal the game.

31" extent of play, Monday Akile was on song again but his cross in a similar manner that gave Lobi Stars the second goal was blocked out by Sunshine defence man.

As the Reserve Referee signalled two minutes added time for the first half, Kehinde Adedipe's volley almost draw level for Sunshine Stars but Emmanuel Daniel once again rose to the occasion to keep Lobi Stars on the lead as the first half draw to an end.

The second stanza of the game produced exciting moments as Lobi Stars continually search for a third goal as Sunshine made spirited efforts for the equalizer to no avail till the Centre Referee bring the game to an end.

Lobi Stars will be in Aba on Wednesday May 2, 2021 to take on Enyimba International in a reschedule Match Day 16.
