Procurement Practitioners Partner Anti Graft Agencies on Transparency

The Association of Public Procurement Practitioners of Nigeria says it would partner the anti corruption agencies and other institutions to boost the fight against corruption in the public sector in Nigeria

The association said that it is poised to sanitize the procurement process by strict enforcement of the procurement Act of 2007 by promoting due process, accountability, transparency and value for money in government and private organizationsions.

The group further stated that, the regularisation of the practice of public procurement in the country to international best practices was critical to national development, insisting that the country's economy will benefit more when procurement is done with due  diligence and transparently.

In a statement signed by its National President, Mr Emem James Kanico and Director of Inter governmental affairs, Mr Austine Omang and made available to newsmen in Abuja said that, the leadership has set strategies to sanitize the organisation by weeding out quacks who according to them have portrayed the association in bad light.

He however urged the public not to patronize quacks who are not qualified by law to practice the profession.

The statement reads in parts:  "We are going to partner the Independent Corruption Practice and other related Matter (ICPC) , Economic Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) , the Due Process Office and other governmental agencies to fight corruption in the system and also ensure value for money in contracts and other projects in line with the public procurement Act of 2007. 

"The Association of Public Procurement Practitioners of Nigeria will also ensure maintenance of standards in public procurement practice across public sector in Nigeria. We are going to showcase what we are doing here in public procurement to the world.

"The aim of the association is to project and  promote professional standards, protect the welfare of members and engage in advocacy, strategic coordination and advance on effective public procurement practice.

"The association  will hold its inaugural conference on professional ethics on  October 26th Tuesday  where it will honour some prominent Nigerians".

Residents of FCT Pass Vote of Confidence on Wike

From Aviashima Toom, Abuja Coalition of FCT Indigenous Groups and FCT Resident Associations has passed a vote of confidence on the  FCT Minister, Bar. Nyesom Wike. The group also  urged him to continue his good works in the nation’s capital, saying the original inhabitants and the entire people of FCT were solidly behind him. The convener of the group, Adeyeye Olugbenga, made the call during a peaceful rally at the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) Abuja, on Thursday.  The group called on President Bola Tinubu to ignore calls to remove Wike as the FCT Minister. The group said ” Some people have alleged that the FCT under Barr Wike has become the epicentre of controversy. They further questioned his land reforms and claimed that he was involved in land grabbing and dispossessing people of their properties. Hybrid Solar Panel Factory Soon To Take Off in Makurdi

From Aviashima Toom The Benue State Government has entered into partnership with the Shanghai Haitian Hospital, to facilitate academic and clinical interchange between Benue State University Teaching Hospital, Makurdi, in the areas of joint studies, training activities, and other educational exchanges of mutual interest. The government has also entered into partnership with Sinoki System Limited, for the establishment of a Hybrid Solar Panel Factory in Benue State. Signing the two Memorandums of understandings (MOUs) at the Old Banquet Hall of the Benue State Government House, Makurdi on Monday, Governor Hyacinth Alia said he was excited and optimistic that the partnerships will open many more doors of investments in the State, adding that his administration is willing to welcome more investors into the state.
