DIA Conducts Defence Advisers/Attachés Annual Conference, Maiden Retreat For 2021

The Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA) is conducting Defence Advisers/Attachés Annual Conference and Maiden Retreat for the 2021 with the theme "Advancing Counter Terrorism Efforts Through Enhanced Inter-Agency Cooperation: A Whole of Government Approach". The event is scheduled to hold from 8-13 November 2021 at Headquarters Defence Intelligence Agency and Nigerian Army Resource Centre (NARC), Asokoro Abuja respectively. 

In a statement signed on Saturday by the Acting Assistant Director Defence Intelligence Agency, Joseph Afolashade
Major in Abuja, noted that the event is one of the veritable platforms designed  by the Agency to examine and re-appraise Nigeria's Defence Advisers/Attachés and foreign defence relations. It will also assist in articulating new strategies in intelligence gathering. 

He said, the event will no doubt be the first in the annals of the Agency since it's establishment. This is owing to the fact that no platform was created for institutional reflections on its activities with a view to measuring the attainment of its core mandate. It is against this background that Agency is holding this conference to effectively galvanize  inputs in view of the myriads of security challenges facing the nation. It will also provide an avenue for  self-examination mechanism for  optimal performance.  This is in line with the policy directive of the President,  Commander- in -Chief of the Armed Forces Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari GCFR on the need to look inward for workable solutions to the myriads of challenges facing the nation.     

According to him, It is in pursuant of this objective, that the Agency is organising it's maiden Retreat to provide a forum to appraise the activities of the various Defence Sections as well as brainstorm to proffer new strategies in attaining the core mandate of the Agency. 

The Conference and Retreat he explained are therefore considered as milestone events in the activities of the Agency that would engender interactions with past Directors of the Agency, former Chiefs of Defence Intelligence and senior intelligence practitioners in the Country.

Residents of FCT Pass Vote of Confidence on Wike

From Aviashima Toom, Abuja Coalition of FCT Indigenous Groups and FCT Resident Associations has passed a vote of confidence on the  FCT Minister, Bar. Nyesom Wike. The group also  urged him to continue his good works in the nation’s capital, saying the original inhabitants and the entire people of FCT were solidly behind him. The convener of the group, Adeyeye Olugbenga, made the call during a peaceful rally at the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) Abuja, on Thursday.  The group called on President Bola Tinubu to ignore calls to remove Wike as the FCT Minister. The group said ” Some people have alleged that the FCT under Barr Wike has become the epicentre of controversy. They further questioned his land reforms and claimed that he was involved in land grabbing and dispossessing people of their properties. Hybrid Solar Panel Factory Soon To Take Off in Makurdi

From Aviashima Toom The Benue State Government has entered into partnership with the Shanghai Haitian Hospital, to facilitate academic and clinical interchange between Benue State University Teaching Hospital, Makurdi, in the areas of joint studies, training activities, and other educational exchanges of mutual interest. The government has also entered into partnership with Sinoki System Limited, for the establishment of a Hybrid Solar Panel Factory in Benue State. Signing the two Memorandums of understandings (MOUs) at the Old Banquet Hall of the Benue State Government House, Makurdi on Monday, Governor Hyacinth Alia said he was excited and optimistic that the partnerships will open many more doors of investments in the State, adding that his administration is willing to welcome more investors into the state.
