NCF, TotalEnergy In Tree Planting Scheme at GSS Tudun Wada, Abuja

The Nigerian Conservation Foundation (NCF) in partnership with TotalEnergies green stations school project, has embarked on fruit trees planting at Government Secondary School Tudun Wada, Abuja

The project will involve planting of fruit trees and setting up of nurseries, as well as establishment of conservation clubs in the schools community. 
According to the Regional Coordinator, CNF, Garba Mohammed Boyi, stressed that trees are very important to human existence and must be encouraged amongst younger generations

He said that the trees provides medicine, shelter, food, to human existence and as well play a vital role in mitigating climate change because it has the ability to absolved carbon from the atmosphere which he said was very useful to man and other animals.
He noted that the foundation has provided over 50 trees which are to be planted by the students, also followed by environmental sanitation in order to keep their sarounding clean from mosquitoes and other environmental hazards

He urged the students and school management to ensure the sustainability of the process, adding that it is one thing to plant and another to sustain.

Sales Executive Officer, TotalEnergies, Mrs. Omolabere Adebogun, noted that it was an initiatives Total Energy decided to partner wih CNF in order to encouraged students of the school to embibed the culture of tree planting, considering the important of trees to human existence.

Adebogun explained that the program was targeted to all the secondary schools in the country, but decided to single out GSS Tudun Wada as a central school.

Principal of the school, Mr. Akoh Joseph, said that tree planting is a vital thing people have been running away from, but insisted it's very important to existence of the planet, considering the advantages.

"It provides shade for the environment for making it a smooth learning condition for the school. We can also get fruit from the trees and also controls erosion level around the school premises.

"As a matter of fact if you look around the school environment, you will see alot trees and flowers, we water them from time to time, that's to tell you that we have always take care of them. So maintaining this ones will this ones will not be too big for us because we have constant water supply here in the school compound and the students are involved". He said.
