Don't Compel Nigerians On Covid-19 Vaccination, FG Told

The synod of All Nations Evangelism Ministries urged the Federal Government (FG) not to compel Nigerians to take Covid-19 Vaccine.

This is contained in a communique signed by Archbishop Yimam Orkwar, Synod Chairman/National President, Christian Association of Clergies in Nigeria after the Fresh Oil International Convebtion for the year 2021 and issued on Sunday in Makurdi.

Bishop Orkwa said that the federal government should be mindful of the fact that the Covid 19 vaccine is an experimental vaccine and should desist from forcing Nigerians to take the vaccine, it should be taken voluntarily.

The statement It also stated that the Synod commended the Nigerian Armed Forces, other Law Enforcement and Security Agencies for their sense of patriotism, loyalty and their sacrifices in the war against terrorism in several states of the nation.

“We encourage them to remain steadfast; intensify efforts despite resistance from bandits and other operational challenges they encounter daily.

“Christians and other Nigerians are encouraged to continue to pray without ceasing for the Armed Forces,” it stated.

It also observed with great concern, the state of the Nation’s economy, the debt profile, the declining value of the naira and the rate of borrowing by the Federal Government (FG) and called on the Economic Team to rise up and rescue the economy from further decline.

It further called on the FG to be mindful of the fact that this present Administration had at the inception of her tenure of office declared zero tolerance for corruption and vigorously fight the war against it devoid of political affiliation and other factors.

It called on FG to ensure that Nigeria attained the status of a secured Nation.

“Insecurity must be addressed as the present level of insecurity affects every segment of our lives as Nigerians.

“Synod advises the government to be objective in formulating policies to resolve the issues of ranching and open grazing.

“It will be in the best interest of the Nation to allow the South East Geo Political Zone to have a bite at the leadership of the Nation at the level of Presidency in 2023; as this will demonstrate the fact that we firmly believe in equity, equality and fairness as a Nation,” it stated.

It called on the President, Governors and other Political Leaders to have respect and reverence for God, uphold equity, fairness and justice in their service to the nation.

It advised Christians to continue to pray for President Muhammadu Buhari so that he would lead with wisdom and the fear of God.
