By Fater Abagu

In continuation of his grassroot consultations for his governorship aspiration, Comrade Richard Tersoo Mnenga on Friday, in Ugba, Logo Local Government Area of Benue State, met with the Local Government chapter leadership of APC where he briefed them of his ambition, vision and desire to govern Benue State come 2023

In his address to the party leadership which included party Exco, party elders, party stakeholders, women and youth,

In his remarks, Comrade Mnenga stressed that his choice of Logo as his first port of call for his consultations for the new year was because of the region's significance and strategic position in Benue politics going by their political history and awareness that dates back to the early post independence political era.

According to him, it was based on this political awareness that Hon. Tashaku Orodi Ugba was elected to represent Sankera in the Federal House of Representatives in 1959 under UMBC but having realised the importance of mainstream politics, he defected to the NPC and was made parliamentary secretary to the Prime Minister Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa.

"It was also based on this that in 1964, he was re-elected by them against his opponent, Tornajime Akaa who contested under the UMBC. The Balewa government appointed him as minister of state for Lagos affairs, making him the first Tiv man to become a minister in Nigeria. In order words your decision join the APC enmass was not out of place but in line with what your political leaders taught you". He said.

Comrade Mnenga however appealed to them to give him their support, assuring them that if given the opportunity, he will not fail in making Benue State a better place.

He also said Logo was his second home as his mother was not only born and bred in Ugba town but did his primary education at RCM primary school Tsenge; his father also taught at RCM primary school, Aganyi both in Ugondo in Logo local government.

Responding, Logo Local Government APC chairman, Hon. Washima Zenda, the party secretary, Comr. James Gbor, the Woman Leader, Hon. Mrs. Caroline Mbavekpega, and the Youth Leader, Comr. Aondongu, all commended the Gubernatorial hopeful for his bold steps. They assured him if their unflinching support promising galvanized all necessary support for the actualization of his dream come true.

Goodwill messages came from Elder Livinus Yaweh who spoke for the party elders, Barr. Vangerbee Uhamber who spoke for the party stakeholders, and Hon. Christopher Kulaga who spoke for the Ward chairmen.

Comrade Mnenga was accompanied on the visit by his wife, Mrs Mariam Doom Mnenga, Chief Sabastine Utim Chula, Hon. Mathias Mtserkyaa, Hon. Msugh Humbe, Hon. Ray Ikyenge Ichoghol, and Hon. Iortyom Ihyembe. Others on the entourage were Hon. Mrs Erdoo Adom, Hon. Emmanuel Igyese, Mr. Ralph Bokyaa, Hon. Aondoaver Nyakuma, and Hon. Engr. Atume.
