Benue women under the aegis of Amazon Prime have called on the All Progressives Congress (APC) to choose Sen. George Akume, the Minister of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs as its National Chairman.

The President of the group, Mrs Hembadoon Aulleh made their feelings known when they organised a 1000 women walk in support of the aspiration of Akume on Saturday in Makurdi.
"The Benue women are calling on President Muhammadu Buhari and other stakeholders to hearken to their call and choose Akume as the national chairman of the party during its National Convention billed for February 26.

"Akume is an undisputable veteran of the progressives in Nigeria, having served many years as Minority Leader in the Senate.

"Also, Campaign Organisation Chairman of APC for the entire Northern region.

"He is a Benue mega political star with the largest followership,"
Aulleh said.
She further said that Akume had a very wide network of political friends which would serve as a weapon of influence to woo people to their fold.

Meanwhile, Mrs Regina wife to Akume, commended the women for organising the walk in support of her husband.

She appealed to APC members to consider the wishes of the group as well as other Nigerians to settle for her husband as the national chairman of the party.

She prayed God to grant their heart desires.

Earlier, the State Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr Dan-Morgan Ihomun, said that Akume would surely be elected as the party's national chairman, stressing that God's hand was in the project.
