Benue Govt Signs N149.31m Contract to Procure Transmitters for Radio Benue

The Benue  Government has signed a contract of N149.3 million for the procurement of a 20 Kilowatt FM Transmitter for Radio Benue, Makurdi with Knicks Engineering Limited, Abuja.

The contract was signed on Friday in Makurdi in the Office of the Chief of Staff to the governor of Benue, Dr Tivlumun Nyitse while the Head of Service, Mrs Veronica Onyeke was there as a witness.   
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism, Dr Beatrice Tsavmbu before signing the contract agreement,  said that the installation of a new transmitter for the station would make it reach wider audience against the present situation of the station. 

Meanwhile, the Director-General (DG) of the station, Dr Charles Iornumbe, commended Gov. Samuel Ortom for ensuring that the station got a new transmitter and other essential equipment.

Iornumbe further said that it had been the desire of Ortom to procure and install a new transmitter for station long ago thereby uplifting its standard to compete favourably with emerging competitiors.

"I am happy that the dream which the  governor had, had come to fruition with the signing of the contract today.

"The new transmitter will go a long way to reposition the station for optimum performance. 

"I am pretty sure that  when the transmitter will be installed, the station will give Benue people awesome results," Iornumbe said. 

He also acknowledged the zeal the ministry had for the procurement of a new transmitter for the station and sued for the sustenance of the spirit.

He disclosed that as he assumed duty as the DG of the station a couple of months ago, he had extended the transmission hours from 9am to 12 midnight daily.

Also, Nyitse, commended the governor for the approval to procure a transmitter for the station, stressing that as a media practitioner, he was aware of the enormous benefits that would come with the installation of the transmitter. 

The Director Knicks Engineering Limited, Engr Chiedozie Idoko said that the 20 Kilowatt transmitter would come with other essential equipment which would aid the station to have a wider outreach. 

Idoko stated that he was sure of getting the job done within three months from the date of mobilization.
