2023: Yisa Promises to turn waste into wealth in Benue

By Our Reporter
A prominent governorship aspirant on the platform of the All  Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue, Arc. Bernard Yisa, has promised to convert waste products in the state into wealth.

Yisa made the promise  while consulting the MINDA Intermediate area of the state on Saturday in Makurdi.
MINDA comprise four local government areas of the state, namely Guma, Makurdi, Gwer and Gwer West.

He lamented that waste products were the ugly things that usually welcome people into Makurdi, the Benue capital.

"The waste products are eyesores. They should not be things that will be welcoming people into the state particularly the state capital but should be used to create wealth.

"I will make adequate use of the Environmental Protection Act and turn the waste into wealth.

"I will establish a beach at the River Benue. I will turn it into a tourist site," Yisa said.

He further said that he would stop the deforestation that was currently going on in the state.

"If the indiscriminate falling of trees is not tackled now, the state will in the near future become a desert," he said.

Speaking on behalf of Makurdi, Guma and Gwer local government areas, Mr Ormega Orti, Mr Fidelis Adi and Elder Akange Chen, said that Yisa was capable of transforming the state, stressing that all the delegates in their areas would surely vote for him.

Relatedly, Mr Erastus Ugema who spoke for Gwer West, said that the aspirant had appointed their kinsmen into key positions in his campaign organisation, adding that as such they would reciprocate the gesture by ensuring that he flew the party's governorship flag come 2023.

The Zonal Woman Leader, Mrs Christiana Tor, advised the aspirant not to relegate the women and youth to the background, stating that they were very critical in electioneering.

The APC Youth Leader, Mr Tavershima Abunde, corroborated Tor that the youth had several roles to play during elections, therefore, Yisa should engage them in his project.

Also, the State Legal Adviser of the party, Mr Fidelis Mnyim, said that Yisa had the people at heart as such he would tackle the ever increasing wage bill of the state if given the mandate.
