APC Youth Leader Presents Strategic plan for youth inclusivity, Ahead 2023 General Election

The National Youth Leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Dayo Israel, has outlined proposed strategic plans for all youth inclusiveness during and after the 2023 general elections.

The national Youth Leader had earlier constituted the 12 man high level working committee announced that the team will provide support for APC youths before, during and after the 2023 general elections to enable them discharge their responsibility effectively.

He added that the team will seek financial and moral support for youth candidates who are below 40 years old that will emerge with the party ticket post primaries to increase young people’s participation in elections.

"And so the purpose of this gathering is for them to give an account to the young people of nigeria on the progress of that high level working group.To engage policymakers and lobby for positions directly from the power brokers in the state, including governors of some state and all that power brokers to ensure that we can increase the participation of young people". He said

Israel, explained that in the coming days youth of the party should visit  and engagement with it’s youth that are vying for various position 

He said "I believe it is where we have the information where you can meet all the aspirants. All our candidates who under 40 can submit information for this.

” I want you to announce the expansion of the mandate of this high level working group to also extend to post primary engagement and technical support for candidates that have emerged this weekend. 

"The committee’s focus is to create a Technical Platform, providing strategic and morale support to young members who have purchased their nomination forms or intending to purchase before the expiration of the dateline set by the party to go into to primaries. 

“This committee would serve as an advocacy team interfacing with relevant stakeholders on behalf of the young aspirants who have got the nomination forms. 

“The committee is premised on three operational stages:

1. The identification process: The team reviews the entries and shortlists credible candidates with a proven track record and a passion to serve.

2. The mobilization process: The working group is saddled with the responsibility of advocating and lobbying for the shortlisted young aspirants.

3. The Post-primary technical support: This includes Setting Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), Political management mapping, Budgetary planning and Fund raising to the eventual young flag bearers of the party.

Also speaking on behalf of the committee, the Co-chairman Ahmad Salihijo Ahmad said  informed that they have been able to engage a few governors, "we have engaged governors of Lagos, Ogun, Kogi, Ekiti States and we've gotten very firm commitments from these governors. 

"Already they have shown a lot of encouragement because if you look through their cabinets, you will find that a lot of the people they are currently bringing into their cabinets are young people". He noted.

Mrs. Solape Hammond, Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on SDGs and Investment*

Makinde Araoye - Special Adviser on Federal Matters to the Governor of Ekiti State
