Insecurity: Shande calls on World Powers to rescue Nigeria from total collapse

By Our Reporter
The Spokesman, Forum of Concern Nigerian (FCN), Mr Peter Shande, has said Nigeria is too important in the African continent therefore, world powers should not allow it to become a failed state simply because a sitting President wants to destroy it.

Shande stated this during a press conference held on Monday in Makurdi.

The spokesperson of the forum reiterated that the country was equally important in the community of nations and should not be allowed to be consumed by insecurity.

He said that Gov. Samuel Ortom on Sunday in Washington DC, raised a disturbing and timely alarm over the increasing spate of violence in Nigeria.

He urged the United States of America Government and the rest of the international community to hold President Muhammadu Buhari accountable for the wave of violence in Nigeria.

"We therefore, urge the international community not to treat Ortom's call with levity.

"We expect the United States, the United Kingdom and other world powers to intervene in the security situation in Nigeria without further delay," Shande said.

The governor further suggested that Establishing a Special Envoy on Nigeria would be a good place to begin.

"We will not fail to warn the Presidency that we are watching keenly and nothing must happen to Ortom.

"Ortom represents the suffering and marginalized people of this country who are being slaughtered like animals by terrorists almost daily.

"We must state here categorically that anyone who touches Ortom should be prepared to contend with over 200 million people of this country," he said.
