VSF Donates Relief Materials to IDPs in Benue State

Mr Sunday Oyibe, a team member of Victims Support Fund (VSF), said VSF distributed food and other household items to 1,000 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) households in Naka, Gwer West Local Government Area of  Benue state

Oyibe disclosed this in an interview with newsmen on Tuesday in Naka, the headquarters of Gwer LGA of the state.

Oyibe emphasized that some households had dependants ranging from seven to even 15 or more.

"So, if you multiply the number of dependants with 1,000 households you will see that a huge number of persons will benefit from the VSF gesture.

"We have given them rice beans, garri, palm and vegetable oil among several other household items," Oyibe said.

He disclosed that VSF was to providing food items, medical and non medical consummables to seven LGAs in the state.

He listed the LGAs to include Konshisha, Oju, Ado, Gwer West, Kwande, Logo and Guma, stressing that the distribution was to last for six months.

He said that at the end of the distribution of the relief materials, VSF would also give the displaced persons economic empowerment.

"VSF will give them funds to enable them start petty trading to earn a living," he said.

Some of the beneficiaries, Mrs Theresa Iorfa, Mrs Nalumun Uhembe and Miss Janet Iorfa, applauded VSF for the kind gesture, stressing that her support had truly cushioned their sufferings and sued for sustenance.

Oyibe that with the assistance of VSF, indigenes of Gwer West Local Government Area (LGA), Benue and its environs will soon start enjoying clean water.

He further disclosed that the rehabilitation work of Naka Dam by VSF was 80 per cent completed.

"VSF is rehabilitating the Naka Dam so as to give clean water to the inhabitants of the area and its environs.

"The completion of the dam will mark the end of water scarcity in the area and the challenge of contacting diseases through unhygienic water will be addressed largely," Oyibe said.
