Green Savannah gives scholarship to 60 school children

The Managing Director (MD), Green Savannah, Mr Sylvester Uzoama, said the organisation gave scholarship to 60 children in both primary and post primary schools in Benue.

Uzoama disclosed this on Thursday during her 2022 annual end of year celebration in Makurdi.

The MD said that it had been a culture of green savannah to celebrate every end of the year where it shared food stuff and other agricultural produce to the people especially her host community which was the Nigerian Air Force Base and Ugondo community all in Makurdi Local Government Area (LGA), Benue.

"It is on this note that we chose in addition to sharing of food stuff and other agricultural produce decided to give scholarship to the students and pupils," Uzoama said.

He pledged to continue to engage with various community heads and groups in order to see how to they would continue to enrich the lives of stakeholders.

He further promised that they would not relent in doing more for her host communities. 

He also advised the people to venture into massive dry season farming to enhance their income. 

The Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Dr Kester Kyeng, thanked the organisation for the gesture, stressing that it meant a lot to the beneficiaries and their families.

Kyenge further encouraged the youth to venture into sustainable agriculture in order to tackle food insecurity or shortage. 

He also advised them to venture into dry season farming so as to make farming an all year round activity.

Also, the Air Officer Commanding (AOC), Tactical Air Command (TAC), AVM Precious Amadi, applauded green savannah for giving back to the society by way of scholarship.

Represented by the Chief of Staff, Air Commodore, Michael Ekwueme, Amadi encouraged them to be giving the scholarship specifically to the needy and not those from families that were capable and able to foot the bills of their children's educational needs. 

Meanwhile, third Class Chief of Ugondo, Chief Clement kulugh, appreciated the organisation for supporting their children to receive western education, expressing hope that it would be extended to the tertiary institutions too. 

Kulugh appreciated the Nigerian Air Force for giving the organisation their land to operate.

The District Head of Ugondo, Chief Justin Ihwarkaa, said that the organisation had planted seeds in the children and they would be celebrated in future. 

A cross section of the beneficiaries Miss Mimidoo Ayihe who is a JSS One student and Miss Daniela Adi who is a primary five pupil, commended green savannah for giving them scholarship, promising that it would spur them to take their studies more seriously.
