Slain DPO: CMMRC Commiserates With NPF, Family

By Our Reporter

The Conflict Management and Mitigation Regional Council (CMMRC) in Benue, has commiserated with the Nigerian Police and the family of the slain Divisional Police Officer (DPO), late SP Mamud Abubakar.

This is contained in a statement jointly signed by the CMMRC Chairperson, Mrs Rachel Ityonzughul and Co-Chairman, Alhaji Ahmed Baba and issued on Friday in Makurdi.

Recalled that Abubakar was killed by bandits on Tuesday on Naka-Makurdi road while on a rescue mission.

Our correspondence reports that Abubakar was the DPO in charge of Gwer West Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.

CMMRC also sympathized with the families of those that lost their loved ones recently due to herders attacks in the state.

It further condemned the act of resorting to violence instead of dialogue which was far better, emphasizing that good, amicable and lasting results were achieved through dialogue.

It appealed to Benue people to remain calm in the face of any form of provocation as the law enforcement agencies were there to maintain law and order, stressing that any breakdown of law as well order should be reported to them for speedy action other than resorting to violence.
