Minister Inaugurates FG Water Projecs In Kwara, Restate s Commitment of Tinubu Administration to Access Clean and Safe, Water, Sanitation and Food Production

Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation Engineer Professor, Joseph Terlumun Utsev has inaugurated water projects executed by the Ministry through Lower Niger River Basin Development Authority.

In statement signed by the Personal Assistant to the Honourable Minister. Terhemen Oraduen, in Abuja said that, the water projects inaugurated were Solar Powered Borehole at the University of Ilorin, Solar Powered Borehole at the Palace of Emir of Ilorin and a water project at the Nigeria Police Command in Ilorin as well as a newly procured Apache Five CHC meant for hydrological survey of water bodies by the Lower Niger River Basin Development Authority Ilorin, Kwara State.

Performing the ceremonies at different locations, Professor Utsev explained that it was the desire of the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to ensure that every Nigerian have access to clean and safe water and improve personal hygiene.

According to Professor Utsev,the Ministry under his leadership was committed to ensuring the  provision of bulk water and irrigation Services towards the achievement of food security for all Nigerians under the Renewed Hope Agenda of the President.

He called on the communities where the projects are situated to utilize them judiciously to serve the purpose for which they are meant for.

Speaking, Vice Chancellor University of Ilorin Professor Wahab Egbowale SAN represented by DVC Management Services Professor Suleiman Foloronshon who thanked President Tinubu for appointing a sound water and sanitation Engineer to oversee the Water Resources and Sanitation Ministry described the appointment of Professor Utsev as putting a square peg in a square hole and assured Professor Utsev of  the necessary Support of the academia to enable him succeed.

The Vice Chancellor who thanked the federal government for  executing a water project to the instituion said it will go along way in addressing perennial water scarcity the University has been facing and appealed for expansion of the dam at the instituion to serve the students.

On his part, the Emir of Ilorin and Chairman Kwara State Council of Chiefs His Royal Majesty Alhaji Ibrahim Gambari expressed appreciation to Professor Utsev and Federal Government for finding his palace worthy for the water project saying it will go along way in addressing  water scarcity at the palace while the Commissioner of Police Ilorin Command whose message was delivered by DCP Operations Adekimi Ojo expressed joy for the stating that water it will enable police personal in the Command enjoy portable water and thanked Professor Utsev for being the first Serving Minister that will visit the Command .
