Labour Protest: NPF Places Men on Red Alert, Warn Impostors Against Hijack

From Aviashima Toom, Abuja The Nigeria Police Force has deployed personnel nationwide and placed them on red alert to monitor the planned protest by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), across the nation. The Force also briefed all Commissioners of Police and their respective supervising officers instructing to coordinate the officers on ground in ensuring the safety and security of all participants if the protests hold as planned. This was contained in a statement on Monday by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi in Abuja. He said the Nigeria Police Force affirmed the fundamental right of all citizens of the country to engage in peaceful protest in line with extant laws. Edo Primaries: NWC Declares Guber Primary Inconclusive, fixes 22th Feb for Re-run

From Aviashima Toom, Abuja The National Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has declared last Saturday’s gubernatorial primary election in Edo State chapter of the party inconclusive. The NWC at an emergency meeting held at the National Secretariat of the party on Tuesday night arrived at the decision to  consider the report of the election submitted by Gov. Hope Uzodinma’s primary election committee. It was therefore agreed that the exercise will be concluded on Thursday, February 22.  Addressing newsmen after the meeting, which lasted about three hours, the APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, said that based on the election report, NWC resolved that the primary election was not completed. Shelve Protest In The Interest of Peace, DSS Enjoins Organized Labour

From Aviashima Toom, Abuja  The Department of State Services (DSS) has urged the the Organized Labour to shelve it's plan strike in the interest of peace. The DSS stated this in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Director, Public Relations & Strategic Communications, Peter Afunanya, Ph.D in Abuja said while the Service recognised such action as the legitimate right of the labour movement, it, however, urged the body to shelve the plan in the interest of peace and public order. The statement Reads thus; The attention of the Department of State Services (DSS) has been drawn to plans by sections of the organised labour to stage protests between 27th and 28th February, 2024 in parts of the country over sundry economic issues.
