The Defence Headquarters, NSA, and other security agencies represented by their spokesperson came together under one umbrella called, Strategic Communications Interagency Advisory Policy Committee, coordinated by the NSA, stating their resolve to address insecurity in its entirety.

The spokespersons of all Nigerian security and response agencies, facilitating unified and strategic communication announced their resolve at its maiden joint press briefing in Abuja, on Thursday, at the Defence Headquarters.

Speaking during the occasion, the Director of Defence Media Operations, Major-Gen Edward Buba assured that the security agencies are working decisively to address insecurity and ensure the safety of citizens.

The briefing gave a recap of performances in tackling insecurity of each agency over the past one year, in what it tagged sectorial updates.

The committee also gave a peep into the future of what it called ‘strategic priorities’.

It said it is looking ahead with focus on;

*Strengthening intelligence-sharing mechanisms to pre-empt and counter security threats more effectively.

*Strengthen mechanisms to ensure a people-oriented approach to securing our communities.

*Invest in advanced technologies and equipment to enhance the capabilities of security forces.

*Deepen partnerships with international allies to tackle regional and global security challenges and leverage best practices.

It called on all citizens, the private sector, NGOs, religious communities, and other stakeholders to support efforts of the security forces.

It stressed that through the strength of our interagency collaboration, they have achieved so much and it is indicative that much more can still be achieved and will be achieved.
