The All Progressives Congress (APC) has begun screening governorship aspirants for the Anambra State election, scheduled for November 8, 2025. This screening exercise, which commenced on Friday, aims to determine the eligibility of aspirants.

Dr. Paul Chukwuma, who was first to be screened told journalists after the excercise that he remain the best candidates and he is well prepared to lead the party to victory in the upcoming primary elections

According to him the screening is a routine procedure to ensure that all aspirants are fit and qualified to hold the gubernatorial office in Anambra State.

He expressed optimism, nothing that he is ready for the election in line with the party’s programmes and he is  hopeful that at the end of the day he will be elected by the party delegates to fly the flag.

" I am quite convinced by the special grace of God, APC will take the reign of power in Anambra state with me as the candidate of the party and eventually the governor of Anambra state,” he said.

For the party decision to for indirect primaries, Paul Chukwuma said "I am ready for the general elections The decision of the party to go for indirect primaries is a welcome development I am very comfortable with it because at the end of the day it's the party members that we vote and being with these party members over the starting of this party you should know that I can be smiling as a matter of fact. So I am very happy that the party has taken that decision. I am prepared for both direct and indirect, I am prepared for the election either way, I am prepared for consensus, and  I am prepared for men and women of conscience and they would recognize the sacrifice and my commitment to the party and the fact that I am very, very qualified to lead Anambra and based on that I have no fear that I will emerge victorious and become the candidate of the party.

On consensus, the Anambra hopeful said other aspirants are in talk with him, "it's natural I'm the oldest member of the party and I also need to guide them and draw their attention to the discipline and the culture of the party so in fairness to them they've been consulting me, they've been talking to me and we have a very good relationship as colleagues I'm pretty much convinced that each and everyone of us are qualified to lead the state. But you will agree with me as journalists that looking at my resume that I'm the most qualified to lead Anambra APC through the government house but having said that we have a very good working relationship and I'm pretty much sure that when I emerge the candidate of the party that my colleagues in the struggle will be more than happy to work with me to take Anambra and give it back to India.
