Plateau Must Never Bleed Again”: APC Chair Hails Tinubu Visit, Demands Tech-Driven Crackdown on Killers

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, has praised Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his visit to Plateau State following the recent killings in Angwan Rukuba, while calling for urgent and decisive action to end the cycle of violence in the state.

In a statement released on Friday by the Special Adviser to the National Chairman of APC on Media and Communications Strategy, Abimbola Tooki in Abuja, Yilwatda described the President’s visit as a strong demonstration of empathy, responsive leadership, and national solidarity with grieving communities affected by the attack in Jos North.

The APC chairman condemned the attack in the strongest terms, labeling it “inhuman, cowardly, and reprehensible,” and warned that the continued loss of innocent lives in Plateau represents a national tragedy that must no longer be met with routine responses.

He stressed that authorities must adopt deliberate, coordinated, and result-oriented strategies to ensure such incidents do not recur.

During the visit, President Tinubu was received by Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang, alongside political leaders, traditional rulers, and community stakeholders.

The President also visited families of victims of the Angwan Rukuba attack, offering condolences and reaffirming the Federal Government’s commitment to restoring peace and security.

Yilwatda urged community leaders to be more vigilant, arguing that those responsible for the killings are likely known individuals operating within or around affected communities.

He warned against shielding perpetrators through silence or complicity, insisting that those responsible must be identified, apprehended, and prosecuted.

The APC chairman called on security agencies to overhaul their approach, advocating the deployment of modern tools such as drones, artificial intelligence-powered surveillance systems, and real-time intelligence mechanisms.

According to him, outdated methods are no longer effective against increasingly sophisticated criminal networks.

Yilwatda also highlighted the economic consequences of persistent violence in Plateau State, noting that insecurity continues to undermine its tourism potential, agricultural strength, and broader economic development.

He warned that sustained instability could deprive residents—especially young people—of opportunities, investment, and long-term prosperity.

The APC chairman emphasized the need for a “whole-of-society” approach, urging collaboration among traditional institutions, religious leaders, political actors, and community groups to restore lasting peace.

He added that the Federal Government’s response to the crisis goes beyond symbolism, describing Tinubu’s visit as a signal of renewed commitment to tackling insecurity.

“The lives of Plateau citizens are sacred and non-negotiable,” the statement said, warning that perpetrators of violence must be brought to justice without delay.

Yilwatda concluded with a strong message: “Plateau must never be allowed to bleed like this again.”
