The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, has warned aspirants seeking elective positions on the party’s platform to maintain discipline and embrace peaceful conduct ahead of the 2027 party primaries.

Yilwatda, in a statement issued through his Special Adviser on Media and Information Strategy, Abimbola Toki in Abuja said the ruling party would not tolerate any act capable of disrupting the primaries, stressing that offenders risk suspension and other disciplinary actions.

According to him, aspirants and their supporters must avoid violence, unrest, anti-party activities, and any attempt to undermine the integrity of the process.

The APC chairman stated that the party remained committed to conducting transparent, credible, democratic, and peaceful primaries across the country, adding that internal democracy remains central to the party’s growth and national acceptance.

He noted that while contests naturally produce winners and losers, aspirants must demonstrate maturity and sportsmanship by accepting the outcome of the exercise.

“In every democratic contest, only one person will eventually emerge victorious. What is important is the spirit with which the process is approached,” he said.

Yilwatda described aspirants as ambassadors of the party whose conduct before, during, and after the primaries would reflect the values and discipline of the APC.

He also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his commitment to strengthening democratic institutions and ensuring credible internal party processes.

The APC chairman said Tinubu had continued to provide leadership aimed at building a united and forward-looking party capable of delivering sustainable development under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

He urged party stakeholders to avoid divisive politics and support the administration’s vision for national growth and stability.

Yilwatda further defended the administration’s economic reforms, noting that despite inheriting significant economic and structural challenges, the government had embarked on bold policies aimed at repositioning the country for long-term growth.

According to him, the administration is pursuing strategic investments in infrastructure, agriculture, energy, technology, and industrial expansion as part of efforts to achieve a $1 trillion economy.

He highlighted ongoing road and rail projects, investments in the power sector, reforms in the ports industry, agricultural interventions, and support for small and medium-scale enterprises as part of the government’s achievements.

The APC chairman added that investments across sectors such as solid minerals, oil and gas, healthcare, education, and technology would improve economic productivity, create jobs, and attract investments.

He called on party members and stakeholders to remain united and committed to ensuring the reelection of President Tinubu in 2027, insisting that the achievements of the administration provide strong justification for continuity.

Yilwatda reaffirmed the commitment of the APC leadership to fairness, inclusiveness, justice, and internal cohesion, assuring Nigerians that the party would continue to provide purposeful leadership focused on national development and stability.
