Troops Neutralise Terrorists, Rescue Abducted Victims in North-East Operations
Troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have recorded fresh operational successes across the North-East theatre, neutralising terrorists, rescuing abducted victims, recovering arms and explosives, and arresting suspected criminal collaborators during coordinated operations under Operation DESERT SANITY.
According to a statement issued on Thursday by the Media Information Officer of OPHK, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, troops supported by the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) carried out offensive operations in Valle, Ashigashiya and Gakara general areas, where they engaged suspected Boko Haram and ISWAP fighters.
The statement said two insurgents were neutralised during the encounter, while others fled towards the Ngoshe axis. Troops also intercepted suspected terrorists along the Bravo Kilo 10 axis, killing another insurgent and recovering a radio set and a mobile phone.
In a related development, troops operating along the Ngoshe–Amuda corridor rescued an eight-year-old boy, Abubakar Mublagha, who was abducted during the March 3, 2026 attack on Ngoshe community. The victim was medically examined and reunited with his family.
Similarly, troops conducting operations around Uvaha village along the Gwoza–Limankara axis rescued a 20-year-old abducted Fulani man identified as Dahiru Ahamdu.
The victim reportedly escaped from his captors after intense artillery bombardments by troops hit terrorist camps, killing two insurgents and causing panic among the fighters. He disclosed that he was abducted on May 8, 2026 while grazing cattle at Bororo village in Madagali Local Government Area of Adamawa State and was held in a terrorist enclave within the Mandara Mountains.
Troops also recovered a cache of explosives abandoned by fleeing terrorists in the Magza area of Buni Gari following actionable intelligence. Recovered items included four 40mm RPG bombs, one 81mm mortar bomb and four 60mm mortar bombs, which were secured by Explosive Ordnance Disposal teams.
In another operation, troops arrested a suspected collaborator, identified as Kuti Muhammad, a member of the CJTF, over alleged links with terrorist elements. He is currently undergoing investigation.
The military also responded to a reported armed robbery incident in Garin Gwigwi village in Biu Local Government Area, leading to the arrest of three suspects identified as Aliyu Mamadu, Umar Mohammed and Adamu Aliyu.
Items recovered from the suspects included mobile phones, suspected illicit substances, charms, jewellery, cash, a dagger, a Quranic booklet and a locally made firearm. A stolen Dane gun was also recovered and returned to its owner after verification.
Additionally, troops in collaboration with local hunters arrested four suspected cattle rustlers and terrorist collaborators at Kwaya Kusar Market, recovering six rustled cattle.
Lieutenant Colonel Uba said troops across the theatre remain vigilant and committed to sustaining offensive operations aimed at denying terrorists and criminal elements freedom of action in the region.
He added that the military high command commended the troops for their professionalism and resilience, urging them to sustain the current operational momentum in the interest of national security.
