APC Victories in Ekiti, Bye-Elections Reflect Public Confidence in Reforms – Yilwatda

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, has described the party’s landslide victory in the Ekiti State governorship election and its strong showing in recent bye-elections across the country as evidence of growing public confidence in the APC-led administration and its reform agenda.

In a statement issued on Sunday by his Special Adviser on Media and Information Strategy, Abimbola Tooki, Yilwatda said the election outcomes demonstrated that Nigerians recognize the long-term benefits of ongoing economic and governance reforms despite current challenges.

According to him, the victories reaffirm public support for the APC’s governance philosophy, which prioritizes development, accountability, stability and citizens’ welfare.
“The overwhelming victory recorded by our great party in Ekiti State and our remarkable success in the bye-elections across the country represent a powerful endorsement of the APC's governance philosophy,” Yilwatda said.

He noted that the people of Ekiti rewarded Governor Biodun Oyebanji for what he described as visionary leadership, inclusive governance, prudent resource management and visible developmental achievements across the state.

Governor Oyebanji was declared winner of the Ekiti governorship election after securing victory across the state, while the APC also won five of the six bye-elections conducted in different parts of the country.

Yilwatda said the Ekiti election had become a national example of how performance-based governance could translate into electoral success.
“The Ekiti election has become a national reference point. It confirms that when governments deliver tangible results in infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture, youth empowerment, security and social development, citizens respond with renewed trust and overwhelming electoral support,” he stated.

The APC chairman argued that the outcome underscored the importance of governance over political rhetoric, adding that voters had expressed support for continuity, stability and progress.
He described Ekiti under Oyebanji as one of the most successful governance models in contemporary Nigeria, citing investments in road infrastructure, rural development, healthcare, agriculture, workers’ welfare and ease of doing business.

According to him, the administration has fostered political consensus while maintaining a strong focus on development, resulting in increased stability and growth.

Yilwatda also linked the election results to the broader reform agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, saying the administration’s policies were laying the foundation for a more resilient and competitive economy.

“Despite inheriting deep structural challenges, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has demonstrated courage and vision in implementing reforms that are necessary for Nigeria’s long-term prosperity,” he said.

He added that the confidence shown by voters suggested increasing public understanding and appreciation of the reforms and their expected benefits.
The APC chairman congratulated President Tinubu, Governor Oyebanji, party leaders, members and all victorious candidates in the bye-elections.

He also commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies and the people of Ekiti State for ensuring a peaceful electoral process.

Yilwatda assured Nigerians that the APC would remain committed to delivering good governance, promoting economic renewal and strengthening democratic dividends across the country.

“The APC remains committed to building a stronger, more prosperous and more united Nigeria. The victories recorded in Ekiti and the bye-elections reinforce our resolve to work even harder in service to the Nigerian people,” he said.
