By Aviashima Toom, Abuja

Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), have successfully repelled coordinated attacks launched by Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists in the Buratai axis of Biu Local Government Area, Borno State, inflicting heavy losses on the insurgents.

According to a statement signed by the
Acting Military Information Officer
Headquarters Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI
MAIDUGURI, Captain Mohammed Goni,  the terrorists launched multiple attacks on troop positions at Dusten Kura and Chara Road in the early hours of Thursday, June 19. However, alert troops, acting on credible intelligence, swiftly detected the insurgents' movement and responded with overwhelming firepower through a coordinated air and ground operation.

The Nigerian Air Force component of Operation HADIN KAI played a decisive role in the operation, deploying Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) assets as well as precision strike platforms to support troops on the ground. The coordinated response disrupted the terrorists' assault, resulting in significant casualties among the attackers and forcing the surviving insurgents to retreat in disarray.

Military sources confirmed that no casualties were recorded among the troops, while the terrorists suffered substantial losses in both personnel and equipment.

The successful operation highlights the high level of preparedness of Operation HADIN KAI forces and the effective synergy between air and ground components in sustaining pressure on terrorist groups operating in the North-East.

The Theatre Command reaffirmed its commitment to denying terrorists freedom of action and ensuring the safety and security of residents across the region. It also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies.

Operation HADIN KAI stated that it will sustain aggressive offensive operations aimed at further degrading terrorist capabilities and restoring lasting peace to the North-East.
