Premiere Academy, Lugbe, Abuja, has once again demonstrated its commitment to excellence as two of its students emerged star winners at the grand finale of the 6th Abuja National Music Competition, held over the weekend.

The prestigious competition, which attracted participants from schools across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and other states of the federation, featured a variety of vocal and instrumental performances aimed at celebrating and nurturing young musical talents.

Among the standout performers were Jaja Soibifaa and Iwugo Michael, who brought pride to Premiere Academy by clinching the top prizes in the Vocal and Piano categories respectively. Their exceptional performances earned them the coveted Star Winner titles, with each student receiving a cash prize of N250,000.

Jaja Soibifaa emerged overall winner in the Vocal Category after impressing judges with a remarkable display of vocal skill and artistry, while Iwugo Michael outperformed fellow contestants in the Piano Category to secure the highest honour in the instrumental segment.

The Abuja National Music Competition is a platform designed to foster creativity among students aged 6 to 18 and revive the authenticity of Nigerian music by showcasing outstanding vocal and instrumental talents from primary and secondary schools across the country.

Beyond competition, the initiative promotes music education, artistic expression, and performance excellence among young Nigerians.

This year's edition focused on discovering, supporting, and celebrating young musicians who demonstrate exceptional artistic mastery. Participants also benefited from professional mentorship and the opportunity to perform before a distinguished panel of music experts, gaining valuable exposure and recognition for their dedication and talent.

Reacting to the achievement, Premiere Academy’s Music Instructor and Team Lead, Mr. Israel Olorundare, described the victories as a reflection of the school’s strong culture of excellence and dedication to nurturing students’ talents.

“The performances have once again showcased the musical excellence and talent of Premiere Academy students beyond the four walls of the academy,” he said.

Olorundare also expressed appreciation to the school’s management and staff for their unwavering support and commitment to the students’ development, noting that their collective efforts contributed significantly to the outstanding results recorded at the competition.

The latest success further reinforces Premiere Academy’s reputation as a leading institution committed not only to academic excellence but also to the holistic development of students through music, arts, sports, and other co-curricular activities.

As the applause continues to resonate from the competition, the achievements of Jaja Soibifaa and Iwugo Michael serve as an inspiration to young aspiring musicians and a testament to the transformative power of talent, discipline, and quality mentorship.

With two star winners emerging from the competition, Premiere Academy has once again affirmed its place among the schools nurturing the next generation of Nigeria’s musical talents.
