APC Launches Osun Governorship Campaign Council, Vows Decisive Victory in August 15 Poll

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, has declared that the party will deploy its vast political structure and human resources to secure victory in the August 15, 2026, Osun State governorship election.

Speaking at the inauguration of the APC National Campaign Council for the Osun governorship election, Yilwatda described the election as a crucial test of the party's preparedness ahead of the 2027 general elections.

According to him, the APC remains Nigeria's most resourceful political party, boasting an unrivalled pool of experienced politicians, including serving and former governors, National Assembly members, local government chairmen, councillors, and defectors from other political parties.

"If there is any political party in Nigeria that has human resources in abundance, it is the APC. We have the experience, the structure and the capacity to win elections at every level," he said.

The APC chairman noted that the newly inaugurated campaign council was carefully constituted to mobilise both human and material resources across Osun State, expressing confidence that the party would reclaim the state's Government House.

He described the Osun governorship election as the APC's "practice ground" and "litmus test" for the 2027 general election, stressing that victory in the state was non-negotiable.

Yilwatda said the party would embark on an extensive grassroots mobilisation strategy involving governors, lawmakers, local government chairmen, councillors and party leaders from across the country.

"We will go from house to house and person to person. There is no tribe, no language and no community in Osun where the APC does not have members who can reach out to the people and persuade them to support our party," he stated.

He also tasked the party's Directorate of Women Affairs with intensifying mobilisation efforts among women across the state.

Responding on behalf of members of the newly inaugurated campaign council, Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State described the assignment as a solemn responsibility and pledged that the council would work tirelessly to ensure the APC's victory.

Uzodimma said the council would conduct an issue-based, evidence-driven and peaceful campaign centred on the achievements of the APC-led Federal Government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the party's record of governance across the country.

"Our assignment is clear: to listen to the people of Osun State, earn their confidence and convince them to vote for the APC and our governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO)," he said.

He assured that the campaign would reach every ward, local government and polling unit in the state, engaging workers, farmers, market women, artisans, youths, traditional rulers, religious leaders and persons with disabilities.

Uzodimma also pledged that the APC would resist misinformation with facts while maintaining discipline and promoting peaceful democratic engagement.

"No political ambition is worth the blood of any citizen. Our campaign will be vigorous without violence, competitive without bitterness and confident without arrogance," he added.

The APC governorship candidate, Ambassador Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO, expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the APC National Working Committee and the party leadership for constituting what he described as a formidable National Campaign Council.

He said party members across Osun State received the composition of the council with excitement and confidence, describing its members as political heavyweights capable of delivering victory.

Oyebamiji said his campaign had continued to engage communities across the state's three senatorial districts, nine federal constituencies, 30 local government areas, 332 wards and 3,762 polling units.

According to him, the APC's message of prosperity, good governance and the Renewed Hope Agenda has continued to gain acceptance among the electorate.

"The people of Osun State can no longer afford another day of the current administration beyond November 27, 2026. Our people are ready for progressive governance once again," he said.

The APC candidate highlighted growing support from women, youths, traditional rulers, market associations, students, artisans and other stakeholders, citing recent mobilisation activities across Osogbo, Ila, Iragbiji, Ikirun, Ile-Ife and Iwo as evidence of increasing momentum for the party.

He pledged loyalty to the APC and assured party leaders that he would justify the confidence reposed in him by delivering victory at the polls.

Oyebamiji also vowed that an APC administration in Osun would align the state with the Federal Government's Renewed Hope Agenda and ensure that residents benefit from ongoing national reforms and development initiatives.
