COAS Reaffirms Army–Elizade Partnership to Strengthen Logistics, Fleet Sustainment

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has reaffirmed the Nigerian Army's commitment to strengthening its partnership with the private sector to enhance logistics support, improve fleet sustainment and boost operational efficiency.

The COAS made the commitment on Tuesday while receiving the executive management of Elizade Nigeria Limited during a courtesy visit to the Army Headquarters in Abuja.

Represented by the Chief of Policy and Plans (Army), Major General Bamidele Alabi, Lieutenant General Shaibu described a reliable and mission-ready vehicle fleet as critical to sustaining combat effectiveness, facilitating rapid troop deployment and enhancing the Army's capacity to respond to emerging security challenges across the country.

He said strategic collaboration with the private sector remains a key force multiplier in strengthening the Army's capabilities in fleet management, equipment maintenance, technical support and manpower development.

According to him, such partnerships are central to the Nigerian Army's transformation agenda aimed at building a more agile, technologically driven and self-reliant force.

The COAS commended Elizade Nigeria Limited for its longstanding support to the Army through the supply of vehicles, maintenance services, technical collaboration and industrial training for personnel of military workshop units. 

He noted that the company's contributions have significantly complemented the Army's efforts to strengthen its logistics system and improve operational effectiveness in safeguarding Nigeria's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

He also assured the delegation of the Nigerian Army's continued commitment to providing a secure environment that promotes economic growth, encourages investment and reinforces the link between national security and national development.

Lieutenant General Shaibu stressed that stronger collaboration among the military, government institutions and the private sector is essential to building resilient defence capabilities, sustaining operational effectiveness and fostering lasting peace and national prosperity.

Earlier, the Branch Manager of Elizade Nigeria Limited, Mr. Adeniji Abiodun Adeyinka, conveyed the goodwill of the company's founder, Chief Michael Ade-Ojo, and its management to the Chief of Army Staff.

He commended the COAS for his leadership and praised the Nigerian Army's efforts in addressing the country's security challenges. Mr. Adeyinka reaffirmed Elizade Nigeria Limited's commitment to deepening its partnership with the Army through enhanced technical support, fleet maintenance services, industrial attachment opportunities and the provision of quality automotive solutions tailored to the Army's operational requirements.

Flood Alert: Benue Basin Water Levels Near Flood, designates camps in 18 Local Government

From Aviashima Toom, Abuja  SAHEL ReportersNews: Benue State Government and the Nigeria Hydrological Services Agency (NIHSA) have raised the alarm saying the rising water levels along the River Benue Basin have neared flooding any moment from now. Towards this end, the Benue State Government has designated camps in 18 Local Government Areas to shift would-be victims of flood. Data released by NIHSA yesterday showed a steady increase in water levels, approaching the flood threshold. “Water levels recorded at key gauge stations are alarming, with Wuro Boki at 6.36 metres and Jimeta Bridge at 5.04 metres. “Ibbi station stands at 8.2 metres, Makurdi at 9.4 metres, and Lokoja (Niger River) at 8. 68 metres,” the report said. It noted that the rising waters, especially at Makurdi and Ibbi, had placed the River Benue Basin on high alert.
