APC Chieftain Giadom Mourns Late Daniel Orbih, Hails Him as Bridge-Builder

National Vice Chairman (South-South) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Victor Giadom, has expressed deep sadness over the death of Chief Daniel Osi Orbih, describing him as a great friend, brother, compatriot and distinguished political figure.

Giadom, in a condolence statement issued on Wednesday, September 2, extended his sympathies to Orbih’s wife, Mrs. Florence Orbih; his children, Ms. Winifred Anwosiobor Orbih and Dr. Mildred Omonemi Orbih; his siblings and the entire Orbih family.

He prayed to God to grant the family the strength and fortitude to bear the loss.

According to Giadom, the late Orbih, a prominent chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and an illustrious son of the Etsako Nation in Edo State, was more than a political associate to him.

“Chief Orbih was not merely a political associate; he was a brother and compatriot with whom I shared a long, fond and deeply cherished history,” he said.

Giadom described the deceased as a man known for his warmth, courage, wisdom, generosity and commitment to public service, adding that his contributions left an enduring impression on those who knew and worked with him.

He also acknowledged Orbih’s role in the cross-party political movement known as the “Rainbow Coalition,” championed by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

Giadom said Orbih worked closely with members of the coalition in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He noted that Orbih’s participation demonstrated his political experience, commitment to bridge-building and willingness to work across party lines in the larger interest of Nigeria.

Beyond politics, Giadom said Orbih’s contributions to society earned him several prestigious traditional titles across different communities.

Among the titles, he listed The Kulukulu 1 of Ogoni Land, The Oduma of Uzairue, The Agbokhaivho II of Avianwu Clan, Enakhaimhoi of Anegbete, Esama of Uromi and Eze Oha 1 of Mburubu.

“These honours reflected the profound respect, recognition and esteem he commanded across communities,” Giadom said.

The APC chieftain described Orbih’s death as a significant loss to the Etsako Nation, Edo State and Nigeria, saying the deceased would be remembered as an illustrious son, bridge-builder and man of courage, character and influence.

He said Orbih’s passing had created a void that would be difficult to fill, but expressed confidence that his contributions to public life and the memories he created would remain indelible.

Giadom prayed that God would grant the deceased eternal rest and comfort his family, friends, political associates and other mourners.

“Rest in peace, my brother and compatriot. Your memory will remain cherished, and you will be deeply missed,” he said.
