Nigerian Navy Disowns Fake 2026 Recruitment Notice, Warns Applicants Against Fraudsters

The Nigerian Navy has disowned a recruitment notice circulating on social media, purportedly announcing the 2026 Batch 39 recruitment exercise.

In a statement issued on Monday, September 21, 2026, the Director of Naval Information, Captain Abiodun Folorunsho, described the circulating notice as unofficial and unauthorised.

According to the Navy, members of the public should disregard recruitment information obtained from unofficial social media accounts, websites and other unauthorised sources.

The Navy said all official information concerning its recruitment exercise, including eligibility requirements, application procedures, timelines and available categories, would be communicated only through its authorised channels.

It identified its official recruitment/enlistment website as

www.joinnigeriannavy.navy.mil.ng, while www.navy.mil.ng remains the official Nigerian Navy website.

The Navy also warned prospective applicants against making payments to individuals, agents or unauthorised platforms in connection with recruitment, stressing that the exercise is free of charge.

It further clarified that it does not authorise third parties to recruit applicants or collect recruitment fees on its behalf.

The Navy reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a transparent and credible recruitment process and urged the public to rely only on verified information from its official communication channels.

Flood Alert: Benue Basin Water Levels Near Flood, designates camps in 18 Local Government

Towards this end, the Benue State Government has designated camps in 18 Local Government Areas to shift would-be victims of flood. Data released by NIHSA yesterday showed a steady increase in water levels, approaching the flood threshold. “Water levels recorded at key gauge stations are alarming, with Wuro Boki at 6.36 metres and Jimeta Bridge at 5.04 metres. “Ibbi station stands at 8.2 metres, Makurdi at 9.4 metres, and Lokoja (Niger River) at 8. 68 metres,” the report said.
