The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, has expressed confidence in the party’s chances of winning the 2027 presidential election, declaring that President Bola Tinubu has earned Nigerians’ confidence through his leadership and ongoing reforms.
Yilwatda spoke during the flag-off of the APC presidential campaign in Kaduna State, where he welcomed President Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima to the North-West, describing the event as a significant step towards securing another presidential mandate for the ruling party.
In a statement issued on Saturday by his Special Adviser on Media and Information Strategy, Abimbola Tooki, the APC chairman said the enthusiasm surrounding the campaign demonstrated growing public support for the President, particularly among women and young people.
He described Tinubu as a courageous leader willing to take difficult but necessary decisions to address the country’s longstanding challenges and reposition the economy for sustainable growth.
“The people have spoken, and their voice is loud and clear. Nigerians are happy. Our women are happy, our youths are happy, and the people are encouraged by your leadership,” Yilwatda said.
He added that the APC was united, organised and prepared to present what he described as a credible candidate to Nigerians in the 2027 presidential election.
According to him, the party’s campaign would focus on the administration’s achievements, ongoing economic reforms and its vision for a more prosperous, secure and inclusive Nigeria.
Yilwatda urged Nigerians to consider not only the challenges facing the country but also the need to address structural problems that have hindered national development.
He expressed optimism that the benefits of the administration’s reforms would become more evident as implementation progressed, adding that a second term would provide an opportunity to consolidate the gains recorded so far.
“The task before us is to consolidate the gains, deepen the reforms and ensure that the promise of Renewed Hope translates into greater opportunities, improved livelihoods and shared prosperity for our people,” he said.
The APC chairman also called on party members, elected officials and stakeholders to intensify grassroots mobilisation and communicate the administration’s policies and achievements to the electorate ahead of the 2027 general election.
As part of the campaign activities, Yilwatda presented APC flags to governors of the North-West states, expressing confidence in their leadership and urging them to strengthen party unity and mobilise support for Tinubu and other party candidates.
The governors listed in the statement were Uba Sani of Kaduna, Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano, Dikko Umaru Radda of Katsina, Umar Namadi of Jigawa, Nasir Idris of Kebbi, Ahmad Aliyu of Sokoto and Dauda Lawal of Zamfara.
Yilwatda described the North-West as strategically important to the party’s electoral fortunes, stressing that victory in 2027 would depend on effective grassroots engagement, internal cohesion and sustained communication with voters.
He commended the Kaduna State Government, party leaders, campaign organisers and supporters for their roles in the commencement of the campaign.
The APC chairman further urged party faithful to conduct their campaigns peacefully, maintain discipline and respect democratic principles while presenting the party’s policies and programmes to Nigerians.
“The journey to 2027 has begun, and the APC is ready. We have a President with the courage to lead, a party with the capacity to mobilise and a vision centred on the prosperity of our people,” he said.
