Ex-Reps Aspirants Seek Role in Tinubu’s 2027 Re-election Campaign

The House of Representatives Aspirants Forum has pledged to mobilise nationwide support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027, urging the All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership to integrate its members into the party’s campaign structure.
The National Coordinator of the forum, Hon. Mohammed Danjuma, made the appeal on Thursday after a courtesy visit to the APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, at the party’s national headquarters in Abuja.
Danjuma said the forum, which comprises former House of Representatives aspirants from the country’s 360 federal constituencies, was ready to deploy its grassroots networks, political experience and organisational capacity to support Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima and other APC candidates in the 2027 general elections.
He said the group intended to complement existing party structures rather than create a parallel organisation or compete with established party organs.
“Our intention is not to create a parallel structure or compete with existing party organs. Rather, we seek to complement the party’s efforts by making our collective experience and national reach available to advance the interests of the APC,” Danjuma said.
He explained that the forum was established in 2022 under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to unite aspirants who lost in their parties’ primaries and mobilise support for the party’s presidential candidate at the time, Atiku Abubakar, and his running mate, Ifeanyi Okowa.
According to him, subsequent political developments prompted many members to join the APC, where they have resolved to channel their political experience and organisational strength towards supporting Tinubu’s second-term ambition.
Danjuma maintained that the forum’s presence across all 360 federal constituencies placed it in a strategic position to strengthen grassroots mobilisation, improve voter engagement and enhance campaign coordination ahead of the elections.
He added that involving former aspirants in the party’s campaign activities would promote unity, strengthen internal cohesion and enable the APC to maximise the political resources available within its ranks.
The national coordinator also reaffirmed the forum’s loyalty to Tinubu, the APC national chairman and the party, pledging that members would respect the party’s constitution and abide by its decisions.
Earlier, Yilwatda expressed confidence in Tinubu’s political prospects, arguing that opposition parties could not match the President’s achievements since assuming office.
The APC chairman Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda urged party members and supporters to translate the party’s numerical strength, including its elected officials and grassroots structures, into electoral victories at polling units.
He stressed that unity, cooperation and effective grassroots mobilisation would be critical to the party’s performance in the 2027 general elections.
