The Nigerian Navy has uncovered an estimated 132,000 litres of suspected stolen crude oil concealed in 10 dugout pits in Allison community, Bonny Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The discovery was made on October 22, 2026, by personnel of the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Bonny under Operation Delta Sentinel, following actionable intelligence.

The operation disrupted a suspected storage point within the illicit petroleum supply chain, in a move aimed at curbing crude oil theft and the unauthorised movement of petroleum products in the Niger Delta.

In a press statement issued on Friday, the Director of Naval Information, Navy Captain Abiodun Folorunsho, said the operation highlighted the importance of intelligence-led efforts in identifying concealed petroleum stockpiles and dismantling infrastructure supporting oil theft.

He said the Nigerian Navy would sustain operations to locate and dismantle illegal refining facilities and disrupt networks involved in crude oil theft across the Niger Delta.

The Navy also called on community leaders, residents, traditional institutions and other stakeholders to promptly report suspected crude oil theft, illegal refining activities, suspicious petroleum storage and the unauthorised movement of petroleum products to the nearest security agency.

According to the statement, timely and credible information from the public would enable security agencies to respond swiftly and prevent illicit activities from expanding.

The Navy further stressed that protecting Nigeria's critical petroleum assets required sustained vigilance and active collaboration between security agencies and the communities they serve.

It urged members of the public to support lawful efforts to safeguard the nation's natural resources.
