NAF Conducts 2 day Medical Outreach to Gombe Communities

By Aviashima Toom, Abuja The Director of Public Relations and Information, Nigerian Air Force, Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola says, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), has commenced a 2-day Medical Outreach for its host communities in the Akko-Gona Emirate of Gombe State. This is coming barely 2 months after the establishment and groundbreaking ceremony of the 203 Combat Reconnaissance Group (203 CRG) in the same state. Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola disclosed this in a statement on Thursday in Abuja. EndSARS: Thugs behead policeman, injure three in Anambra

By Aviashima Toom A Police officer was on Thursday beheaded and burnt to ashes by suspected hoodlums during the #ENDSARS protest in Nnewi, Anambra State.   The police spokesperson, Haruna Mohammed, who confirmed this in a statement, said three others sustained various degrees of injuries.   He said the victims were rushed to the hospital for medical attention, adding they were responding to treatment.   He said five persons were attacked in Onitsha and taken to the hospital for medical attention where three have been confirmed dead while two others were receiving treatment. Two policemen burnt alive in Ibadan

By Adams Adams Hoodlums in Abayomi area of Iwo road in Ibadan, Oyo state, have burnt two policemen alive. According to sources, the youth chased the policemen from the New Gbagi market area, alleging that the police van had hit a commercial motorcyclist. “The youth chased the three policemen in their van from Gbagi to Abayomi area of Iwo road, dragged them from the vehicle and beat them up. One of them escaped but the other two were eventually burnt by the youths with their van,” he said. Another witness said the youths caught up with the policemen when they could not drive further because of a barricade formed by #EndSARS protesters. When contacted, Joe Enwonwu, the state commissioner of police, told TheCable that he was in a security meeting and would only talk around 8pm. Gbenga Fadeyi, the state police public relations officer, did not respond to calls when TheCable contacted him on the incident.

Police arrest arms dealers in Kaduna

By Our Reporter The Police Command in Kaduna State said it has arrested a suspected armed robber and two arms dealers, during a routine operation along Kaduna-Kachia road in the state. The Commissioner of Police, Mr Umar Muri, confirmed the arrest in a statement by the command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Umar Jalige. He said 11 guns, several magazines and bullets were recovered from the suspects. “On October 14, at about 15:30hrs, operatives of the command on routine stop and search at Kwanta Shiru village, along Kaduna-Kachia road, arrested one Yakubu Maigida of Chibiya village, Kachia Local Government Area of the state. ”We recovered a locally made AK47 rifle concealed under his motorcycle with the view to evade the security. “Upon interrogation, the suspect gave useful information on the source of the firearm. ”Subsequently, the operatives acted on the information, swung into action and arrested the arms dealer, one Daniel Buzu of Asako village in Kachia local government area. “

Police officers flee as hoodlums set another Lagos station ablaze

Suspected arsonists have just set ablaze another police station in Lagos.   The divisional police office at the popular Grammar School Ojodu along Ogunnusi road in Ojodu LCDA was torched few minutes ago and it is still burning as of the time of filing this report.   The police officers on duty reportedly fled while the vicinity of the station has been surrounded by Mobile Police Officers.   Pedestrians trekking along the Ogunnusi road heading to Ogba, Agege, Ikeja are being turned back.   Gunshots allegedly fired by the mobile police officers to scare away people around could be heard around the area.   Sahel Reporters reports that several police stations have been torched in the wake of the statewide melee that trailed the #EndSARS protests and the shooting at Lekki Toll plaza on Tuesday night.

Include Abandoned Projects in 2021 Budget, CSOs Admonishes BNSG.

By Aviashima Toom, A consortium of Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) in Benue has urged the Benue State Government to include all the abandoned projects in 2018 in the 2021 budget or the supplementary budget of 2020. Dr Helen Teghtegh, the Executive Director, Community Links and Human Empowerment Initiative, stated this during a press briefing on Thursday in Makurdi. Represented by the Program Officer, Miss Dooyum Orbunde, Teghtegh said that most of the projects that were captured in the 2018 budget were people oriented. "It is our collective resolve that these projects as encapsulated in the 2018 budget were people oriented and worthy of execution. "They are targeted at easing the challenges of the electorate.
