Barnabas Gemade, said he has the capacity to wrestle power from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.  Gemade disclosed this on Sunday while interacting with members of the State Working Committee of the party in Makurdi.  Gemade who was the first National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) emphasized the need for the APC to nominate a credible candidate like him to enable the party win all her elections come 2023.  "I have the capacity to win the governorship election for the party if he I am made the party's candidate.  "I had many opportunities in the past to become governor of Benue but I rather preferred to support my younger ones. Police Bans Use of Unapproved Uniforms, Outfits on Routine Operations

Orders Provost, IGP Monitoring Unit to Ensure Strict Enforcement By Aviashima Toom, Abuja The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, has expressed dismay at the flagrant violation of the approved Nigeria Police Force dress code by officers on patrol and guard, stop and search, and other routine police operations; who have formed the habit of wearing t-shirts and face caps with “Special Forces”, “Commando”, “Gallant MOPOL”, “SCORPION”, and other inscriptions while on duty. Premised on this, the IGP has ordered an immediate ban on such unapproved apparels. In a statement signed on Friday by the Force Public Relations Officer CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi in abuja noted that the IGP has  described as unacceptable, the use of unapproved apparels noting that uniforms, which is a means of identification, has been abused by these officers who engage in improper dressing.  He equally decries the fear this unwholesome practice creates in the minds of innocent Nigerians.

IGP Alkali Eulogises DIG Egbunike

While commiserating with the family, the IGP urged them to be strong, and focussed on upholding the legacies of their husband and father.  This was contained in a statement signed on Wednesday by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi in abuja, the IGP equally restated that the late DIG was a man of much knowledge, resourcefulness and commitment to diligence in his lifetime.  The IGP noted that the Nigeria Police Force is generally pained to have lost a dedicated senior officer who had put in 34 years, 7 months meritorious service to his fatherland. By Aviashima Toom, Abuja The acting chairman of the Caretaker/Extra-ordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Abubakar Sani-Bello has inaugurated chairmen and secretaries of sub-committees for the March 26th National Convention. The chairman, who performed the inauguration on Wednesday at the party's Secretariat in Abuja said the convention date is sacrosanct, explaining that the new panels are being reduced to a manageable size for effective delivery. IGP Mourns DIG Joseph Egbunike, Condoles with family

By Aviashima Toom, Abuja The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, on behalf of his Management team, and Officers of the  Nigeria Police Force, regrets to announce the demise of DIG Joseph Obiajulu Egbunike, which occurred at about 9pm of March 8, 2022 at the National Hospital, Abuja, after a brief illness. In a statement signed on Wednesday by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi in abuja said, DIG Egbunike was until his death the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Force Criminal Investigation Department and the supervisory DIG in charge of the South-East.  According to the statement, DIG Egbunike was a dedicated and seasoned police officer who served the nation in various capacities including as the Commissioner of Police in charge of Police Accounts and Budget. An officer with finesse and commitment to intellectual development and was instrumental to the achievements of the giant strides within the Police architecture.
