NIDCOM Boss Hails NIDO UK-South Humanitarian Service in Nigeria

As part of events leading to the 2021 Annual National Diaspora Day Celebrations, the Nigerians in Diaspora Organisation(NIDO United Kingdom South), has earmarked on a Community Development Projects across the 36 states including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja. 
The Chairman/CEO, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Hon Abike Dabiri-Erewa who received the NIDO delegation at a ground braking ceremony at the Karu Children's Home, in Abuja, commended NIDO spirit of patriotism, dedication and commitment to ensuring that the less previlage  in the society are catterd for.
The NIDCOM Boss noted that Diaspora Voting, Constitutional reform, Diaspora Housing and medical city,  among others are top most on the commission for NIDO  

The NIDCOM Boss who was represented by Secretary of the Commission, Dr. Sule Yakubu, gave assurances of constructively engaging the National Assembly to work out a conducive environment for the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC to conduct Diaspora Voting. 

She also disclosed that NIDCOM is working with Federal Housing Authority(FHA) on Diaspora Housing, working with Federal Mortgage Bank for Diasporans to own their own houses and other Diaspora related initiatives. 

Hon  Abike Dabiri-Erewa also told the NIDO UK-SOUTH Delegation that NIDCOM has launched a Diaspora Data Mapping Portal to fast track engagements with the Nigerian Global Community. 

"The flag-off is part of the Nigerian in Diaspora day celebration 2021, July every year has been declared by the Federal Republic of Nigeria as day to celebrate over 17 million Nigerians that are in the Diaspora.

"As you can see, they have chosen to renovate a hostel accommodation for the Karu Children home, the will renovate and furnished with their funds.

"They are also supported by other Nigerians from the UK, USA, DR Congo and other part if the country" he said

Head of the delegation and Chairman NIDO UK-SOUTH, Barrister Chibuzo Ubochi, during the flag-off of renovation work of the Karu Children's Home in Abuja, commended NIDCOM's leadership style of putting words into action having achieved so much within a short term 

Ubochi stated that Nigerians in Diaspora Organisation UK south are in Nigeria for what they called: "One Week in and for Nigeria", as a way of giving back to Community,  a major plank of NIDO UK- SOUTH's Objectives.

He said several community projects has been carried out in most of 36 states including FCT as part of NIDO's activities to mark the celebration 

He also said despite the insecurity and the Corona Virus pandemic that has ravage the country, they have come home to also encourage foraign investors in the country.

He added that the country's present security challenges can be mitigated if self security adherence is maintain

He disclosed that, NIDO has a concept called Individual Pet Projects, the concept according to him is to enable each member have atleast one project in their various states.

 "We want each Diasporan to at least have a project  in his or her community that is why as  someone who is from Imo state, i was in home community to give back to them so all Diasporan must have a project.

"What ever you are doing there, be it a Lawyer, a Doctor, be it Business, we want everyone to replicates that here, you can open a firm here as a lawyer, you can partner with any hospital as a doctor, anything you are doing just make sure you bring that back that thing you out there in you home community"

"So we want all Nigeria in Diaspora to own a project in Nigeria, you must do the same thing you are doing overseas, if you don't it means you don't love Nigeria

He however expressed dismay over the criminal attitude of some elements who broke into the home and cat away some items, with the promised that those missing item will be replaced for the benefit of the children.

He called on all Diasporan to always remember their home country so as to also give back to the society no matter how little, it will go along way developing the communities
