401 Special Forces Donates Educational .aterials to Schools in Benue

The 401 Special Forces (SF) Brigade has donated 1000 branded exercise books of Exercise Enduring Peace II and 60 desks with chairs to two schools in Katsina-Ala and Logo Local Government Areas (LGAs), Benue.

The Brigade Commander, Brig. Gen. Samaila Uba made the donation to NKST Primary School, Katsina-Ala and Gaambe-Tiev Community Secondary school, Anyiin, Logo LGAs of the state.

Uba said the gesture was part of the directive issued by the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt Gen. Faruk Yahaya to all the Nigerian Army formations to strengthen the existing cordial relationship with host communities. 

"The COAS has directed all Nigerian Army formations taking part in the ongoing exercises across the country to continually carry out Civil Military Cooperation (CIMIC) activities in order to strengthen the existing cordial relationship with host communities. 

"I decided to concentrate on educational outreach because my desire is to encourage the return of the displaced children back to school. 

"I hope that the items donated to the little ones who are our future leaders will help in keeping their faith alive in pursuing knowledge and encourage them to see education as the bedrock of their career," Uba said.

The commander explained that the exercise enduring peace II was aimed at providing safe, serene and conducive atmosphere for the yuletide and to also strengthen the CIMIC between the  Nigerian Army and inhabitants of the state.

He disclosed that COAS made concerted efforts to ensure that more troops were injected into volatile areas to enable citizens enjoy hitch free celebrations during the yuletide.  

Responding, the Executive Chairman, Katsina-Ala LGA, Mr Alfred Atera, applauded the Brigade Commander for the kind gesture and prayed for victory of the Nigerian Army over the enemies of the state and country. 

Also, his counterpart from Logo LGA, Mrs Salome Tor, expressed gratitude to the commander for alleviating the plight of the pupils. 

Tor prayed God to give him comfort as he was going about tirelessly providing comfort to the little ones in her domain.

The District Head of Anyiin, Chief Samuel Aluga, said that he never knew that people who were ready to lay down their lives for the peace of the society could show much concern about the education of their children. 

Aluga further said the Nigerian Army was truly a people's Army and he would do everything possible within his power to ensure that all the needed cooperation and assistance were accorded them.
