Again, Troops Neutralize 249 Terrorists, Arrest 333 Suspects, While 169 Hostages rescued

Military says it's Task Force operations across theatres of operation in Nigeria have achieved significant successes in the fight against terrorism, kidnapping, and violent extremism, neutralizing  over 249 terrorists, arresting 333 suspects, and rescuing 169 hostages.

This was contain in a statement on Friday by the Director, Defence Media Operations, DHQ, Major General Edward Buba in Abuja said that, the operations, which took place between June 10 and 19, 2024, were conducted by troops from Operation HADIN KAI (North East), Operations SAFE HAVEN and WHIRL STROKE (North Central), Operation HADARIN DAJI (North West), Operation WHIRL PUNCH (North West), Operation DELTA SAFE (South South), and Operation UDO KA (South East).

The operations resulted in the recovery of a large cache of weapons and ammunition, including AK47 rifles, fabricated guns, dane guns, pump action guns, locally made pistols, RPG bombs, and various rounds of ammunition. Additionally, the troops destroyed illegal refining sites, recovered stolen crude oil and petroleum products, and apprehended suspected oil thieves and drug peddlers.

He also said the successes recorded by the Joint Task Force operations demonstrate the Nigerian military’s unwavering commitment to ensuring peace and security across the country.

The successes recorded by the military in different theatres of operations across the country as follows

In North East, troops of Operation HADIN KAI neutralized 83 terrorists, arrested 98 suspects, rescued 61 hostages and 42 terrorists surrendered.

In the North Central, troops of Operations SAFE HAVEN and WHIRL STROKE killed 18 insurgents, arrested 67 violent extremists, rescued 88 hostages while 25 terrorists surrendered.

Troops of Operation HADARIN DAJI in the North West eliminated 54 terrorists, apprehended 57 suspects, 50 hostages rescued, and 21 terrorists surrendered.

North West’s Operation WHIRL PUNCH troops killed 24 terrorists, 46 suspects arrested, 18 hostages rescued, and 14 terrorists surrendered.

Also in the South South, Operation DELTA SAFE troops recovered 1,099,860 litres of stolen crude oil, destroyed105 illegal refining sites, while 55 suspected oil thieves and violent extremists were arrested.

The South East operations conducted by the troops of Operation UDO KA neutralized 22 terrorists, arrested 37 violent extremists, rescued 15 hostages, and 10 terrorists surrendered.

General Buba added that the military’s commitment to ensuring peace and security across the country remains unwavering, and the successes recorded by the Joint Task Force operations are a testament to the effectiveness of the military’s strategies and the bravery of the troops.
