2027: Jamil Declares for Gombe Governorship, Vows to Sustain Development Strides

Governorship aspirant, Dr. Jamil Isyaku Gwamna, has formally declared his intention to contest the 2027 governorship election in Gombe State, pledging to consolidate and expand the state’s ongoing development efforts.
Jamil made the declaration shortly after submitting his expression of interest and nomination forms at Treasure Suites on Thursday.

Speaking with journalists after the submission, the aspirant said his decision to join the race was driven by the need to sustain the progress achieved by successive administrations in the state.

“I’m here to formally submit my nomination form to the Secretariat,” he said, officially confirming his participation in the governorship contest.

He described Gombe State as fortunate to have experienced quality leadership over the years, while commending the current administration for what he called remarkable developmental achievements.

According to him, the present government has elevated the state’s profile nationally through infrastructural growth and governance reforms.

“Currently, the governor we have has put Gombe State on a new pedestal in terms of development. We are very proud of what he has achieved,” he stated.

Jamil said continuity would remain a key focus of his administration if elected in 2027, stressing the importance of sustaining ongoing projects and introducing initiatives that would further improve the state’s development.

“It is a big challenge to sustain that developmental stride and continue with it. I hope that, given the chance, I will build on what he has done,” he added.

On internal party politics and the process that would lead to the emergence of the party’s governorship candidate, the aspirant said he would abide by the decisions of the party leadership.
“Whatever the party decides,” he said in response to questions on the selection process.

With the submission of his nomination forms, Dr. Jamil Isyaku Gwamna officially joins the growing list of aspirants preparing for what is expected to be a keenly contested 2027 governorship election in Gombe State.
