The Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede, has charged troops of the 2 National Mission Force Brigade to intensify efforts in tackling terrorism, kidnapping, cattle rustling, and other security threats in Southern Kaduna and surrounding areas.

General Oluyede gave the charge during an operational visit to the Brigade stationed in Samaru Kataf, where he assessed the combat readiness of troops and reviewed operational challenges facing the formation.

The visit, according to military authorities, was aimed at evaluating the Brigade’s preparedness and identifying areas requiring support to strengthen ongoing operations within its Joint Operations Area (JOA).

Addressing the troops, the CDS commended their level of alertness and professionalism, urging them to remain committed and proactive in confronting criminal elements.

“You must keep out-witting criminals by anticipating their actions and evolving effective countermeasures. We will continue to support you with the necessary equipment, enablers, platforms and pay due attention to your welfare that will ensure your success,” he stated.

He further encouraged the troops to develop innovative strategies capable of keeping security forces ahead of criminal networks operating within the region.

Earlier, the Commander of the 2 National Mission Force Brigade, OJ Ekuma, highlighted achievements recorded by the formation since its establishment in 2024.

According to him, the Brigade has successfully neutralised several criminals, recovered weapons and rustled cattle, rescued kidnapped victims, and arrested high-profile bandits alongside their collaborators.

Ekuma added that the Brigade has also disrupted the movement of bandits and other criminal groups within the operational area, contributing to improved security across Southern Kaduna.

As part of the visit, the CDS inspected ongoing Defence Headquarters projects and military deployments in the area. He also directed the provision of critical operational equipment and platforms identified as inadequate within the Brigade.

The operational visit was accompanied by the Chief of Defence Operations, JH Abdussalam, the General Officer Commanding 3 Division, EF Oyinlola, and other senior military officers.

The visit underscored the commitment of the Armed Forces leadership to strengthening troop welfare, operational efficiency, and security operations across the country.
