NAPAS Distributes 35 Motorcycles to Low income Earners in Benue

By Our Correspondent  The National Personal Acquisition Scheme (NAPAS) has distributed 35 motorcycles to low income earners in Benue in order to boost their income profiles. The distribution was done on Friday in Makurdi. Addressing the beneficiaries, the State Coordinator, NAPAS, Ambassador Philip Wuhe, said that the scheme was targeted at reducing poverty among low income earners as well as the less privilege. "NAPAS' major target is poverty reduction. It wants the low income earners too to have viable means of livelihoods. "The motorcycles are not given for free but the beneficiaries are expected to be paying N22, 000 per month for 19 months. "At the end of the nineteenth month, if the beneficiary did not default in the payment the motorcycle becomes his or hers," he said. Benue South calls For cancellation of APC State Congress

Child Marriage Kills more than 60 Girls a Day in Nig- SCI

Gov. Ortom Encourages Benue youths to venture into artisanship

By Our Reporter The Benue state Governor. Samuel Ortom has encouraged the youths in the state to undertake various trainings in artisanship in order to create employment and wealth for themselves. Ortom gave the advice on Wednesday during the 2021 Industrial Training Fund (ITF) interactive forum with stakeholders organised by the Fund's Makurdi Area Office. The governor who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Industry and Cooperatives, Mr Apir Ityu, said that acquisition of skills in artisanship was the most sure way that could help the youths to be gainfully employed thereby creating wealth for themselves. Benue: Former Lawmakers Demand outstanding payment of N6.9

Our Reporter Forum of Former Elected Councillors from 2017-2019 in Benue  embarked on a peaceful protest on Tuesday in Makurdi, the State capital, over non-payment of their entitlements. Leader of the former councillors, Mr Titus Ikyor, said that they were demanding for the outstanding payment of N6,954,579 for each of them as a shortfall of the actual renumeration due to them. The Permanent Commissioner, Local Government Service Commission  Makurdi, Dr Tsetim Ayargwer who addressed the former Lawmakers at the commission on behalf of the Chairman, Dr Bem Meladu said that they were only charged with the responsibility to employ, discipline, transfer and promote Local Government staff.  Ayargwer reiterated that they were not responsible for payment of salaries but he promised to convey the complaint to the Bureau of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs for attention.
