Giadom, in a condolence statement issued on Wednesday, September 2, extended his sympathies to Orbih’s wife, Mrs. Florence Orbih; his children, Ms. Winifred Anwosiobor Orbih and Dr. Mildred Omonemi Orbih; his siblings and the entire Orbih family. But beneath the identity and activities of the association, a growing sense of discontent had emerged among some members. Questions were raised about transparency, accountability, communication, elections, congresses, access to opportunities and, perhaps most importantly, the welfare of members. The incident occurred around Harbour Junction, Calabar, on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, following a distress call received by the police at about 8:30 a.m. According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Cross River State Police Command, ASP Eitokpah Sunday Akata, a police patrol team was immediately dispatched to the scene, where officers found a man identified as Chukwu Ebuka being attacked by an angry mob. The officers intervened, rescued Ebuka and evacuated him to an undisclosed medical facility, where he is currently receiving treatment for multiple injuries sustained during the attack. The exercise will take place at the Nigeria Customs Command and Staff College (NCCSC), Gwagwalada, Abuja. In a statement issued on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, by the Deputy Comptroller of Customs and National Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Maiwada, on behalf of the Comptroller-General of Customs, the NCS directed all shortlisted candidates to appear at the screening venue with the original and photocopies of the required documents.
